Community Care is a Canadian registered charity and has a volunteer-based Board of Directors that is legally responsible for the governance of our organization. Within that mandate, our board develops, implements, and monitors policies that allow our organization to carry out its work.
Board members are also the fiduciaries who steer the organization towards a sustainable future by adopting sound, ethical, and legal governance and financial management policies, as well as by making sure the nonprofit has adequate resources to advance its mission.

One of the most important responsibilities of our Board is to hire an Chief Executive Officer to run the day-to-day management activities of Community Care. Our Chief Executive Officer then recruits their management team to assist them with the day-to-day department operations.
Community Care's Management Team:
With this paid staff in place, rather than steer the boat by managing day-to-day operations, our board members focus on foresight, oversight, and insight.
New Strategic Plan 2021 - 2026
Together, with our Board, volunteers and staff, we have created a dynamic 5- year strategic plan that builds on our existing vision, mission, and values but fosters a resilient and flexible organization as Community Care Peterborough navigates into the future.
